Movies for Spanish Class

I've been seeing a ton of teachers asking for movies to show in Spanish class, so I decided to compile a list of the ones that I love to show and group them by country with a little bit of info about each. Even if you don't plan to use them in class watch them! All of these are great movies! Note: If the title is in Spanish then so is the movie, if English then so is the move. Spain Volver- About a mother's search for herself after losing her husband and mother. (For more mature audiences) El laberinto del fauno - About a little girls fantasies to escape the horrors of the Spanish Civil War (for mature audiences) I've made a worksheet packet for this with scenes that you can skip over,  Check it out here El viaje de Carol- Also about the Spanish Civil War. Keep on keeping on!

Thought of the evening, I'm worn out. But I got a smile from and a joke cracked at my expense by my autistic student today!! I see you! I hear you! You're weary and you're next class has a severely autistic student in it, not to mention all the other kids in the class. Take a breath. I know we all are supposed to be positive always but you and I are human. We can't be 100% all the time. I've been there I've thought  if he says worst day ever again  I'm gonna flip. But  heres the thing, YOU have to be the positive light to that autistic child, to all the children really, but even more so to them. So step away take your breath and come back with a smile even if it's fake. Fake it till you make it! Those babies are used to being ignored and teachers not trying to build a relationship. But YOU, YOU build that relationship, take that time! I promise you it will be worth it. When they crack their first joke or even just a brief smile, it will make every weary...

Special Ed Hacks- Voice recording for testing

Been debating on what to post for my first blog post. What better than a special education hack to make your life easier! Work smarter not harder! If you're like me several of your students have IEP's which require them to be read to during testing. My first thought 10 years ago was "How am I gonna pull that off there is only 1 of me 5 students need their test read?" Our district had us using a complicated recording website that we had only one password for the whole district and  had to monitor the students extra closely so they did not accidentally delete our recording or test!
